Looking to test STP SMS messages between osmocomm to osmocomm any good references or tools I could use?

What exactly do you want to test/accomplish?

A STP has really nothing to do with SMS. Compare it with internet technology: An Ethernet Switch has nothing to do with HTML or HTTP. There are many intermediate layers. Likewise on an STP. It simply performs functionality at the (usually) MTP2/M2UA/M2PA or MTP3/M3UA layer of the stack. And then there may be multiple other layers in between before you reach SMS, depending on whether you’re looking at an A interface, an IuCS interface or some other interface.

thank you I need to test receiving SMS messages from an STP point from a carrier to my network I was hoping to test between two osmocomm installs to test the setup before my carrier interconnect is complete

So you are talking about the MAP-based SMS inter-working between 2G/3G networks? That interface is not implemented in Osmocom CNI. You could possibly use some of the ancient osmo-erlang code, but it’s going to be a very bumpy road.

for my 1st test case I would like to use the smsc to send over the stp to another stp to smsc acting as two separate networks would that be doable with OSMOCOM? we can also discuss you helping on a consulting basis too I do have budget for that set aside
